MISSION AND VISION

  • To be the most authoritative voice and influential advocate for community pharmacy and to champion the interest of pharmacy proprietors
  • To promote, improve and protect an essential public service - the community pharmacy
  • To be a sound, responsive trade body, ensuring the professional and commercial prosperity of its members.

As the pharmacy profession faces a challenging future, the NPA provides leadership, knowledge and advocacy for its membership and for the profession - and is regarded as the face and voice of UK community pharmacy.
We believe that the role of the community pharmacist is more than about dispensing prescriptions. Community pharmacy provides an invaluable, community-based, local source of healthcare advice and services, which include medicines management, smoking cessation and coronary heart disease risk-assessment programmes, to name but a few.

Developing patient expectations and new health policies and NHS reforms create the need for new kinds of pharmaceutical services.

Our community pharmacist members are ideally placed to meet the needs of an increasingly well-informed 'patient population' - by promoting safe and effective self-care - and supporting efforts to maintain good health and cope with illness.
