The NPA has issued five template SOPs and guidance notes over the past couple of months on NPSA alerts. The SOP-guidance notes resources are now all free for NPA members to download on the members’ area of the NPA website.

The resources cover the topics of:
• Anticoagulant therapy
• Oral Anti-Cancer Medicines
• Oral Methotrexate
• Paraffin Based Skin Products
• Safe Measurement of Liquid Medicines

Ruth Wakeman, Information Department Manager said: “The template SOP and guidance notes included in these resources will help members review their dispensing procedures in order to minimise the risks associated with each of these topic areas. These resources will provide all the necessary information in a straightforward format. It is important for members to ensure that they are complying with the NPSA’s advice.”

Although applicable directly to England and Wales, the resources may also be of interest to pharmacy contractors from Scotland and Northern Ireland. All NPA SOPs and information materials can be found within the NPA Document Store area of www.npa.co.uk/members.
