The NPA has produced a resource pack to help members manage and promote Medicines Use Reviews (MURs) to patients. The pack, available from NPA Sales, will give the pharmacists ideas on how the MUR service can work for them and help build a sustainable business model.

This unique resource pack details how to achieve the target of 400 MURs a year every year, how to conduct MURs for elderly patient or those on more than 4 medicines and MURs for patients with asthma, diabetes and eczema. There is also a guide to help support staff understand and embrace the service.

The MUR resource pack includes:
• Guidance on starting an MUR service
• Advice on building a sustainable service
• Revised Standard Operating Procedures
• Pharmacy support staff guide
• MUR checklist
• Draft letter to GP/healthcare professional
• 50 bag stuffers
• 20 patient leaflets
• 50 appointment cards
• An A4 poster

Virginia Mead-Herbert, Director of NPA Sales and Marketing said: “The NPA is striving to help members deliver MURs and reach the targets set by the Government. We are promoting MURs to the public through posters in community areas as well as providing hard copy materials for our members to use in their own pharmacies. On 15 May the NPA promoted MURs on regional radio throughout England and Wales using local pharmacists.”

The NPA has built up a range of marketing materials which members can download for free. In addition, record books, to help pharmacists successfully complete a MUR, are available from NPA Sales.
